                             Smile is Keyword of Success Look all around, there are smiles everywhere. The hoardings, TV Ads, TV Serials, Newspapers etc.

                            Behind all these smiles are teeth. The teeth are an integral part of smile. Thus teeth have a major role in our body. It is very important to look after the health of teeth. Some individual have inborn well aligned teeth. But today’s technology can help those individuals to improve their smile and also help cure the diseases in teeth. A broken or fractured tooth can be treated by a cosmetic filling or by fabricating a cap on the tooth.

  DECAYED TEETH: Decay is a common disease found in many patients. If the molar teeth (Teeth used for grinding the food) are involved by decay. The decayed teeth can be filled by ‘Silver’ (A specially designed alloy of Silver and Copper). The teeth can be filled with cosmetic material which looks like teeth. These materials very much look like natural teeth. When the anterior teeth are decayed, the decayed part can be filled with a composite material which matches the colour of the tooth.

                        If decay traverses deep in the tooth, this stage involves the pulp of tooth (The delicate portion of the tooth).  Such teeth are saved by root canal treatment. This is very common procedure performed by many dentists to save the teeth. Most of the times a “Crown or Cap” is fabricated on such teeth the rehabilitate the masticatory function.

DISEASES OF GUMS: Most of the diseased gums bleed. This is the disease of gums and bone around the teeth. In initial phase of the disease the gums can be treated by simple method of root planning.

                        In many patients the disease advances to the underlying bone. In such conditions a minor surgery is done to cure the disease. Now a days artificial bone powder is also available to rectify the bone loss around teeth

LOSS OF TEETH: A single or multiple losses of teeth is not good for health, the missing tooth or Teeth has to be replaced by removable or fixed teeth. There are various methods and material available for replacement of teeth by fabricating a bridge.

CHILDREN’S TEETH: Most of the children suffer from decayed teeth. The children’s teeth can safely be saved by simple filling to root canal filling. It is important to save the teeth of children. The milk teeth or deciduous teeth stay in child’s mouth for a long time.

DO’S AND DON’T’S:

1)      Brush teeth at least two times a day. One in the morning and one at bed time. Brush your tongue also,

2)      Eat Green and leafy Vegetables,

3)      Eat Fibrous Food, the Fibrous or raw food give exercise to gums and cleans teeth. Also it helps in digestion at stomach level.

4)      Avoid chocolates, ice-creams and sticky food,

5)      Try sugarcane sometimes, it is the best exercise for teeth.

 

                          So, keep your teeth healthy to keep your body healthy.
